Ghana’s Tallest Man Awuche Dies at 33 After Battling Illness

Ghanaians are mourning the death of Sulemana Abdul-Samed, popularly known as Awuche, who was widely known as Ghana’s tallest man.

According to reports, Awuche passed away at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after battling serious health problems linked to gigantism. He was 33 years old.

Awuche became famous across Ghana because of his unusual height. Although some earlier reports claimed he was over nine feet tall, later measurements showed he was about 7 feet 4 inches tall. Doctors explained that his body continued to grow because of a condition known as gigantism.

Speaking about his condition in an earlier interview, Awuche accepted his situation and said he had no problem with how God created him.

“That is how Allah chose it for me. I am okay with how God created me,” he once said.

In the last few weeks, Awuche’s health became worse after he developed a serious infection in his left leg.

Doctors first suggested amputating the leg to stop the infection from spreading. However, that decision was later put on hold after businessman Ibrahim Mahama promised to pay for his medical treatment.

Many Ghanaians were hopeful that he would recover after the support he received.

Sadly, reports say Awuche passed away while receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. His exact cause of death has not yet been made public.

Over the years, Awuche became an inspiration to many people. Despite his health challenges, he always remained positive and often spoke about his dream of getting proper medical care, getting married and living a normal life.

News of his death has left many Ghanaians heartbroken, with social media filled with messages of sympathy and tributes from people who followed his story.
